Does the
cabin have
Air Conditioning?
No, because of Big Bear's mountain climate we do not need it most of the year.
In fact, most homes in Big Bear do not have air conditioning. Each bedroom have ceiling fans and the living room
has a portable fan. The average temperature in the summer in Big Bear is only 80
degrees during the day and 40 degrees at night.
What is included in the bathrooms?
We offer our guest Luxury Towels - 2 hand towels, 6 face towels, 6 bath towels
-SPA line soap, conditioning shampoo, lotion
- 2 rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom
Does your cabin offer a BBQ?
Yes, it's a propane gas grill located on our lovely wood deck in the backyard. Please do not use charcoal or lighter fluid in
our barbecue.
Where do I Check-In / Check-Out?
You do not since the keys are at the premises. That's great if your arriving
late. No after hours charges to retrieve keys like from big rental
agencies!
Do I have to pay the cleaning fee?
The answer is yes! We charge a cleaning fee to every guest to assure that our cabin is
cleaned properly for the next guest. The standard cleaning fee is $65 which is
used to vacuum, dust, wash linens and tidy up the bathrooms, kitchen and to
replace amenities! A small amount of cleaning products are available for guest
under the sinks. A vacuum cleaner is also available.
Do you have a DVD or VCR
player?
Yes we offer a DVD and VCR player in the living room. One bedroom has VCR and in
the other there is a DVD player.
Can I bring my pet?
Cougar's Tree House is dog friendly only. Please refrain from bringing
your feline pets, snakes, or dangerous pets! Our yard is fully fenced for your dog
or dogs romping
enjoyment. We ask that you pick up after your pets, before you depart from your
stay with us. Our carpets are professionally steam cleaned yearly to keep our
home in tip top shape. Your caged pets such as birds, rabbits, hamsters, and
goldfish are welcome provided that you clean up after them and no damage will
occur.
Early Check-In or Late Check-Out?
We try to accommodate each guests schedule as much as possible. Many times we
are booked back to back and our cleaning staff needs this time to clean
properly. Please be respectful of our policies to avoid penalties. A late or
early check in/out fee may apply and must be paid in advance. Our Check In time is after 4 P.M. on your
arrival day and
Check Out time is before 11 A.M. on your departure day.
Do you provide firewood?
Yes, you can purchase firewood during check out for an small fee. Be sure to
check the option of your choice. The firewood will be place inside next to the
fireplace. We do not offer a gas key to the gas starter due to regulations. Fire starter sticks
and wood can be purchased at any local store around town including 7-11,
and grocery stores.
Does the cabin have a heater?
Yes, we have a wall furnace for your comfort and a wood burning fireplace if you
should be in a romantic mood .
Is there a spa or hot tub
available?
Yes, we have a hot tub installed on our beautiful wood deck located in our
wooded back yard. Perfect to warm your bones after skiing or enjoyed anytime
throughout the year.
Can I have the house
cleaned during my stay?
Yes, for an additional fee our housekeeping staff is available to clean during your stay.
Do you provide Internet Access?
Yes, we offer free wireless internet and use a G Plus MIMO router for
increased speed, coverage and reliability. We do not provide an Ethernet port so
your laptop will have to be equipped with a wireless card.
No refund of rent will be
provided for disruption.
How do I get the keys?
Keys are located at the property. Your personal codes will be emailed to you
with your welcome letter.
What is included in
the kitchen?
- Plenty of dishes
- Pots, pans, baking sheets, tupper ware
- Silverware, cooking utensils, potato peeler, wine opener, spatulas, ect.
- Drinking glasses, coffee cups, platters
- Coffee maker + 1 coffee pack and filters
- Dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, gas range
- Dishwasher soap, hand soap, 1 sponge,1 dish rag and 1 kitchen towel
- Most cooking spices
- 1 paper towel roll
- 1 trash bag
- Toaster, blender, hand mixer, crock pot
What if something is not
working in the home?
Please call us to inform us of the problem if it needs immediate
attention. We will do our best to fix any problems that arise during
your stay. Hot tub, DSL, Televisions,
DVD/VCRs, satellite, small appliances, etc., are supplied as "extras" for Guest
use. In the event of a malfunction or breakdown we will have the "extra"
repaired as quickly as practical. No refund of rent will be
provided for disruptions.
What
if there is a natural disaster and I can not get to Big Bear?
We will provide a full refund only in the event that all three roads into Big Bear are
closed or if an evacuation in the area has been announced. We do not refund in the
event of snow storms, fire or earthquakes etc.
Do you recommend any restaurants?
Yes, we recommend the following restaurants:
Breakfast - Grizzly Manor & Thelma's
Lunch - Bear Belly Deli, Cocino de Mexico (in Bear City across from Fire
station)
Dinner - Peppercorn Grill, B's Backyard Barbecue
Steaks - Captain's Anchorage, Cowboy Express
Italian - Peppercorn Grill, Village Pizza
Chinese - Pong's Oriental Delights
Himalayan/ Indian - Big Bear's Himalayan Restaurant
How do I find out road conditions?
Please go to the Department of Transportation website at WWW.DOT.CA.GOV or call
1-800-427-ROAD.
Will I have to pay a security
deposit?
Yes, we collect a security deposit calculated at 50% of your total nightly room rate
and a a minimum of $200.
Security Deposits will be refunded to you usually within 21 days after your
departure, however most of the time it takes us only 7 days. Deposits will be refunded back to your Pay Pal account or by
Check if more than 60 days have elapsed from your original payment. If you did
not have a Pay Pal account and paid using a credit or debit card a refund will
post to the payment card used.
Are the driveways cleared
if there is snow?
Yes, we have contracted with a company during the winter months to plow
our driveway. They will usually come within 24 hours of a storm only if there is
more than 3-4" of snow. Please allow them to plow the driveways when they come. We
also have a can of Snow Melt and a snow shovel at the top of the stairs for you convenience for
stairs and icy patches on driveway.
Do you provide cable or satellite TV?
Yes, we have Dish Network Classic Silver 200, which includes local channels and satellite
music channels. If there is a special pay per view event you would like
to watch during your stay, please contact us so we can accommodate you. Any
costs associated with the event will need to be paid for in advance. No refund of rent will be
provided for disruption.
Do you provide phone service?
Yes, our cabin is equipped with local phone service.
If you need to make a long distance call you may use a phone card or Skype
through your
computer. No refund of rent will be
provided for disruption.
Do I need tire chains?
We recommend carrying chains with you in the winter months. It is not
recommended you rely on purchasing chains on the mountain as it can be quite
expensive in the event of a storm. For chain requirements you can go to
