BIG BEAR LAKE CALIFORNIA
BRING YOUR DOG TO BIG BEAR LAKE
There is no need for you to board your dog when you go on vacation. I welcome your well behaved dog to Cougar's Tree House at no additional cost. I ask that your dog be house broken and well mannered so future guest can also enjoy their vacation. I have a fully enclosed back yard with a four foot tall chain link fence and a gated front and back porch for your dog to enjoy.
Big Bear Lake is full of activities that your dog will also enjoy. Take a walk, jog or run around the lake, hike the National Forest, ruff it and go 4x4ing, fishing or sled down a hill with your pooch. My favorite hike while visiting Big Bear Lake is Cougar Crest Trail, it starts near the Discovery Center and travels up to a breath taking view of the Lake and city. Many local businesses are also pet friendly and sometimes leave out water bowls so your furry friend doesn't go thirsty.
PET TRAVEL TIPS:
* Bring your dog food and belongings from home. It is much easier on your dog's digestion system, if you bring your own food from home. Remember that the altitude, new surroundings, and new dog food can affect and upset your dog. Do not forget to bring your pet's crate or kennel, bowls, leash, bed, blanket, favorite toys and Veterinarian records, in case your dog gets hurt!
* Separation Anxiety! If your dog experiences separation anxiety, then you will surely want to bring your dog kennel or crate. Don't leave your pet alone in new surroundings to bark, chew or urinate. Rest assured that your dog is safe for a few hours inside a kennel or crate, while you are away. Even though we have a fenced backyard, please do not leave your dog unattended. Big Bear has wildlife (coyotes) that may harm your pet.
* Pick up after your dog. Don't let the next guest find your dog's droppings in the backyard. Please ensure that you pick up after your dog and remove all elimination wastes prior to departing the property.
* Don't leave your dog in the car. Temperatures become unbearable in the summer. Pets inside a vehicle even with a cracked window will not be enough. Instead bring a kennel or crate, so you can leave your dog behind for a few hours safely at the cabin. That way you will be able to enjoy yourself knowing that your dog is in a safe place and not chewing and destroying someone else's property.
